WINNERS OF THE 4TH SOUNDCITY MVP AWARDS FESTIVAL
Saturday the 11th of January was a day of celebration and fan fare as Africa’s foremost music and entertainment platform, Soundcity brought the African entertainment industry under one roof for the 4th Soundcity MVP Awards. This night of glitz and glamour was held at the Eko Convention Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The 4th Soundcity MVP Awards was hosted by the delectable South African on air queen, Bonang Matheba. Her smile lit screens of millions of viewers across Africa as she opened the show. A line up of some of the revelations from 2019 fired up the audience with their hits, from Skibii, Joeboy, Fireboy DML, Rema, T-Classic, Q Dot, Oxlade, Kwesi Arthur, Ms Banks and Big Tril.
The biggest celebrities across Africa were also in attendance to present awards for the 2020 Soundcity MVPs; the likes of Toyin Abraham, Lateef Adedimeji, Tobi Bakre, Pearl, Moet Abebe, Basket Mouth, Dakota Egbuson, Nse Ikpe Etim, Mercy Aigbe including nominees from Daphne from Cameroun, Betty G from Ethiopia, Zakwe, Zanda Zakuza from South AfricaDJ Mic Smith from Ghana and a host of others.
The big winners on the night included; Naira Marley who walked away with the Viewers Chioce award for “Soapy”, Davido who was awarded the Digital Artist of the Year, Tiwa Savage won Best Video for “49-99”, Kaligraph from Kenya was given the Best Hip Hop Award, Dope Nation from Ghana took home the best Group, while Burna Boy walked away with the African Artiste of the Year Award.
There were more performances from some of the biggest names in the African Continent. Tiwa Savage gave us solo performance for “Attention”, Diamond Platnumz tote the stage down with an electric performance, Stonebwoy held it down with an energetic performance, Tekno took the crowd by surprise with a rare performance, and Davido gave us a shit down with his mega hits from last year.
Clearly the biggest event in African Music, The 4th Soundcity MVP Awards lived up to its billing. With the biggest stars and celebrities, explosive performances as well as glory for the 2020 MVPs. Find below the full list of winners;
